FAQs
How does craniosacral therapy work?
CST practitioners use a light touch, generally about 5 grams of pressure, to assess the craniosacral system by gently feeling various locations of the body. This method tests for the ease of motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsing around the brain and spinal cord. Soft-touch techniques are then used to release restrictions in any tissues influencing the craniosacral system, thereby normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhancing the body’s ability to self-correct.
How many craniosacral therapy sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required varies depending on individual needs and the severity of the condition. Some conditions or acute injuries can benefit from 2-6 treatments, while chronic illnesses or severe injuries may require a longer course of treatment.
What should I do during a craniosacral therapy session?
During the therapy, make yourself comfortable. I will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session, such as lifting your arm. Many people close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if they need a blanket or want to share something relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.
